Altria Named #18 on the "Top Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities"
DiversityBusiness.com conducts an annual 10 question survey with more than 1.3 million businesses throughout the U.S. The survey seeks feedback on companies based on key factors such as volume, consistency and quality of business opportunities granted to women-owned and minority-owned companies. 


Award logo
The editors of LATINO magazine in April named Altria Group as a LATINO 100 company. The prestigious list highlights the “top companies providing the most opportunities for Latinos,” according to the cover story of the magazine’s spring 2013 issue.

To generate its first-ever list of the LATINO 100, editors relied on nominations from the Latino community as well as nonprofit organizations, magazine readers, partners and stakeholders. Editors also completed their own research and information gathering to generate the listing. Organizations are ranked alphabetically and not given a ranking number.

Baron Magazine
Altria ranked 69th in the Barron's World's Most Respected Companies, the only domestic tobacco company to make the list. The annual survey among money managers asks their views of the world's 100 largest companies based on stock-market capitalization as determined by Dow Jones Indexes.

The editors of Computerworld named Altria Group one of the "100 Best Places to Work in IT." The Information Services department, which is part of Altria Client Services, ranked No. 87 in an overall rating.

Barron’s, a weekly financial newspaper read by investors, released its Barron’s 500 in May 2010, an annual list of the top-performing companies in the country. Altria Group earned the top spot. Read more>>

Altria Group is No. 137 on the 2010 FORTUNE 500 list of the nation’s largest companies ranked by revenue, up from No. 160 last year.

The list places Altria second among tobacco companies, behind Philip Morris International (No. 94) and ahead of Reynolds American (No. 272). It also ranks Altria third among Virginia-based companies behind Freddie Mac (No. 54) and General Dynamics (No. 69). Altria is the largest among the six Richmond, Va.-based companies on the list.

  • Ranking is based on three surveys: career services directors at U.S. colleges to learn which employers were tops on their list; employer survey that includes information on hiring, pay, benefits and training programs, which is then compared with others in the same industry; survey of more than 40,000 U.S. undergraduates by Universum Communications, a Philadelphia research company, asking students to identify their five most desirable employers. The employer survey counts for 50% of the final ranking, while the career services and student surveys count for 25% each. View video
